BOTOX® injections are popular amongst Conroe, The Woodlands, and Houston men and women who want to minimize the appearance of neck lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead expression lines. If you’re considering this treatment for the first time, you may be wondering what you need to do to prepare for your appointment, what your session will entail, and what the recovery process is like. Keep reading for answers to these common questions from local plastic surgeon Dr. Myers of Myers Plastic Surgery.

Before Your Injections

Before you let Conroe plastic surgeon Dr. Myers, ranked one of the top doctors in Texas by Texas Monthly, treat your facial wrinkles with BOTOX® injections, you need to do the following:

• Disclosure Your Full Medical History

Certain medical conditions or prescription medications may exclude you from receiving injections. In order to protect your health, make sure to tell Dr. Myers your complete medical history, including any health conditions you have, allergies especially to milk, prescription or over-the-counter medications you take, and any herbal supplements you may take, too.

• Share Your Treatment Goals

Dr. Myers wants to make sure his Conroe patients have realistic expectations for their treatments. Be open and honest with Dr. Myers about the results you’re hoping to achieve so he can tell you if your goals are realistically attainable.

• If Medically Safe, Stop Taking Blood Thinners

BOTOX® and blood thinners don’t mix. If it’s medically safe for you to do so, you should stop taking all blood-thinning medications and supplements before your appointment, including aspirin, Excedrin, and Ginko Bilboa. You’ll also need to refrain from re-starting these medications and supplements for 1 week after your injections.

During Your Appointment

Your appointment with Dr. Myers will be efficient, easy, and stress-free. To make this a reality, follow these steps:

• Remove Any Makeup You’re Wearing Before Your Appointment

Your injections need to take place on a clean, cosmetics-free face. Make sure to use a makeup removing face wash to clean your face of any cosmetics you may have on before your appointment at Myers Plastic Surgery.

• Stay Still and Relaxed During Your Injections

We know some patients in the Conroe, The Woodlands, and Houston may have a fear of needles, but it’s very important to stay calm, relaxed, and still during your injections. This will help ensure that Dr. Myers injects BOTOX® directly into the desired muscles that are a part of your treatment plan.

After Your Injections

Conroe, The Woodlands, and Houston patients can return to their daily activities immediately after their injections, so long as those responsibilities don’t include any aerobic or physical activity for the next week. Patients also should not lie down within 4 hours after their appointments. Additionally, you should:

• Avoid Rubbing or Massaging You Treatment Area

Rubbing or massaging your treatment area can make the injected BOTOX® inadvertently spread to other areas of your face. To prevent this, keep your hands away from the areas of your face that received injections.

• Abstain from Alcohol for 1 Week

To avoid the blood-thinning effects of alcohol, abstain from all alcohol usage for 1 week after your injections. Instead, enjoy your favorite mocktails!

• Stay Away from Facials or Chemical Peels for 1 Week After Your Injections

A facial or chemical peel may be a part of your overall facial rejuvenation plan. However, you need to avoid these treatments for 1 week after your injections.
